I was recently invite to attend the launch party for Spotlights Craft Month, which obviously was bound to be fun because it was in a funky warehouse in Melbourne.
Immaculately decorated with a crazy balloon installation and fake shrubbery lining a room length tressle table, the icing on the cake (so to speak, given there actually was lots of icing and cakes) was the champagne and catering doing the rounds – if someone could send me the croquette recipe that’d be great thanks.
This month kicks off Craft Month at Spotlight stores, with some really cool events over the course of the next few weeks.

Its makeover time as we re-use, re-purpose and upcycle our family favourites!
I have to admit that although I like to think I’m creative and arty, I cannot knit or crochet and I’ve never really dabbled in scrap booking – but baking, that is something I LOVE. My favourite stall was definitely the Roberts Confectionary (obviously because I got to decorate and eat my own cupcake). They have bags of I guess pre mixed cake recipes, in a ‘flour’ form if that makes sense – you can buy vanilla or a yummy mud cake for example, and you just add your water and eggs etc and they’re guaranteed to self flat settle on top, with no roundness!
The best part however was the icing colourings – that are also flavoured! So when you’re making that pink icing next time, and it looks super pretty but tastes like absolute rubbish – you can use the boysenberry colour/flavour and make it next level amazing!
Next month is Evie’s birthday, so now that I’m completely inspired (there was a Singer machine that you could make your own LACE on for christs sake, but I’m not convinced I’m that advanced yet..) get ready for some serious decorating! Including what I hope/promise is going to be one hell of a Mickey Mouse cake! She’s a bit obsessed.
